The overall winner of the Tour de France 2016 will earn … €500,000

Tour de France 2016 will distribute €2.03 million in prize money to participating cyclists. Money is awarded in several categories including overall, each stage, team and individual-merit.

The overall winner of the Tour de France 2016 will receive €500,000; second place takes home €200,000 and third place gets €100,000. Prize money is scaled down and awarded out to last place. The cyclists ranked 91st through to last place and who finish the race receive €1,000.

Stage awards

The winner of each stage takes home €11,000; second place gets €5,500 and third receives €2,800.

Team awards

The team with the best results for the entire competition earns €50,000. The second team in the overall category receives €30,000, third – €20,000, fourth – €12,000, and fifth – €8000.
