Forget returning to the Miami Heat or a reunion with LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dwyane Wade should head to Denver.

It’s no small step for a big name professional athlete to leave the only franchise he’s ever known. Sports history is littered with examples of it going badly, and even when it appears to be a wise move, you end up taking heat from some corners simply for making the decision.

Just ask Kevin Durant.

Dwyane Wade has a similar choice to make, because after feeling like he’s been underpaid for years, the Miami Heat are still reportedly offering him less money than he thinks he should get. Yes, Wade is 34 years old, and he has a lot of mileage on him in NBA terms.

But have we really reached a point where oft-injured Chandler Parsons is a max player and Timofey Mozgov is getting more than $16 million a year but D-Wade is worth just two years at $20 million?

He doesn’t think so, and neither do the Denver Nuggets. While the allure of joining LeBron James and chasing another ring with the Cleveland Cavaliers is obvious, here’s why Wade should do the unexpected thing and head for the Rocky Mountains.
