FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 6
High Salary SP
Johnny Cueto-San Francisco Giants (10,800): The Giants bullpen has been a mess lately, but Cueto has still been able to put together an impressive 12-1 record in his first season in San Francisco with a 2.57 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 122.1 innings.
His last two starts haven’t been great as he has allowed a total of ten runs on 15 hits in 13 innings, but he’ll look to get back in the groove tonight against the Rockies. This will be his third start of the season against Colorado and he has gone 1-0 against them holding them to just one earned run in 14.1 innings while striking out eight. He doesn’t have the dominant punch out numbers to be a truly elite option (which is why his price is under 11K), but he has produced at least 42 fantasy points four of his last five starts and eight of his last ten. ∗∗∗∗
Steven Wright-Boston Red Sox (9,200): The good news for Wright and his potential fantasy owners is that it’s expected to be a dry night in Boston tonight. In his last start Wright did fine until the rain started which always causes issues for his knuckleball. He ended up giving up four runs in five innings to the Angels but all four were on a grand slam in the rain.
In his previous start, Wright did take a loss in Texas against the Rangers who he’ll face again tonight, but his defense wasn’t a help allowing five unearned runs. He should be able to bounce back tonight, and I think he’s a solid trust-worthy play tonight even though he probably won’t completely dominate since the Texas lineup is firing on all cylinders right now. ∗∗∗
