Miller will come more expensive than any Yankee on the trade block. However, if the Cardinals are serious about making a run this summer, they have to see if they can bring him in. The Cardinals will have to win a bidding war to land him. It is usually not their style, but they also have the reputation of getting the players they know they need.

The Yankees will be looking for prospects. The Cardinals have a decent farm system, so if they decide that sacrificing the future gives them a gain that is worth it in the next couple of seasons they can pull off a deal.

It is tough to name a relief pitcher better than Miller at this point. Miller is a hard throwing left handed relief pitcher, the biggest need in baseball. He has a 1.43 ERA over 37 innings this year. In those 37 innings he has 67 strikeouts to five walks. He has been absolutely dominant.

Miller is also signed in through the 2018 season. He can be a closer, but recently has been the setup man in New York. Miller has the versatility, the stuff and the experience to help any team make a run.

They would also block him from going to Chicago. The Cubs biggest weakness this year seems to be their bullpen and they are looking to buy a reliever this summer. Adding Miller to the Cubs is a scary idea. If the Cardinals can get through the wild card, it would hurt to move on only to see the Cubs with a revamped bullpen in the next round.

The Cubs stole Jason Heyward from the Cardinals, so being able to block the Cubs from acquiring the best reliever in the MLB may be just as important as the addition he brings to the team.
