5. Mark Reynolds to the Mets

The Mets are right on the edge of being championship contenders. They were in the World Series last year and the young core can feel the championship coming. Even without Matt Harvey, they have playoff potential centered around pitching.

The Mets rank 28th in runs and batting average. They also are 21st in OPS. This is a team that needs a spark.

At first base, they started the year with Lucas Duda. However, this season he suffered a stress fracture in his back and has not played since May. He is not expected back anytime soon, and it led to the Mets paying for James Loney.

Loney is a left handed hitter with little power. Reynolds is a right handed hitter with major power. Both hitters would be better off in a platoon and boom we have ourselves a great fit.

Unfortunately for the Rockies, Reynolds will not bring in a major haul. He is signed on only for this year. He is also 32-years old and his .283 batting average is well above his .233 career mark.

Still, if the Rockies do not see themselves re-signing the veteran (why would they) this off-season, adding anything would help. He is not going to help the Rockies make the playoffs this year so to take a lottery ticket of a prospect would seem like a fair trade at this point.
