MLB Trade Deadline: 5 best spots for Rich Hill
3. Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox did not appear to make re-signing Hill a priority this off season. That being said, will they look to make up for their mistake by trading for the talented lefty?
Knuckleball expert and All-Star Steven Wright has been incredible for the Red Sox this season, and David Price is obviously a bona-fide ace. That being said, the Red Sox have nothing besides struggles in the rotation behind them.
They need to add quality depth in their rotation, and Hill is one of the best pitchers available on the open market.
Led by an explosive offensive unit, the Red Sox are one of the most talented teams in all of baseball. That being said, they are going to struggle in the post season if they cannot find a way to add to their starting staff.
As the Red Sox know, pitching wins in the post season, and their starting staff is not currently championship caliber.
Red Sox president Dave Dombrowski is extremely aggressive in the trade market and he has a stocked minor league system to use to acquire legitimate big league talent. A trade to get Hill back in the rotation would make a ton of sense for Boston.
