1. Coaching Staff

To get a better idea of what kind of players will be on Team USA, let’s first take a look at this top-notch coaching staff.

Head Coach: Bill Belichick, New England Patriots

There are plenty of incredible NFL coaches in the NFL today, but you can only pick one, Bill Belichick should always be the choice. Belichick has always been an incredible defensive mind, has put together an all-time offense in recent years and knows how to run a team better than anyone.

Belichick’s knowledge of the game of football is obviously important, but having him lead a team of egos like this ridiculously talented team is undoubtedly going to be is key here. There are plenty of fine choices, but Belichick is the single best one.

Offensive Coordinator: Josh McDaniels, New England Patriots

I considered going with an offensive-minded head coach like Sean Payton or Bruce Arians here, but Josh McDaniels is as bright of an offensive mind as there is in the NFL, and he has an incredible rapport with Belichick, who would likely be making this decision.

McDaniels is an extremely talented coach who would undoubtedly do a great job of putting together a fantastic game-plan for an incredible mix of talent on the offensive side of the ball.

Defensive Coordinator: Wade Phillips, Denver Broncos

Again, a defensive-minded head coach like Ron Rivera or Marvin Lewis would make plenty of sense here, but it is hard to argue against Wade Phillips being the best choice. Phillips is a veteran NFL coach who knows defensive football as well as anyone, and has seen every kind of offense that could be thrown at him.

What Phillips has done with the Denver Broncos has been incredible, and there is not a coach better suited to lead Team USA’s defensive attack. Also, his experience as a coach running both a 4-3 and 3-4 defense makes sense for this team that is going to have a wide-range of defensive options.
