5. Toronto Blue Jays

Even with outfielder Jose Bautista on track to return soon from turf toe, Dozier would fit nicely in a power-laden Blue Jays’ lineup and it can be argued he would be an upgrade over incumbent second baseman Devon Travis defensively.

Pitching looks like the biggest need for Toronto approaching the trade deadline, particularly in the bullpen as they look to make a return trip to the playoffs. But the same thing could have been said at this time last year, when they acquired shortstop Troy Tulowitzki from the Colorado Rockies, so a move by the Blue Jays to bolster their lineup again this year shouldn’t be ruled out.

It may come down to what the Blue Jays can or are willing to offer Minnesota in a trade for Dozier, and at first glance there’s doesn’t appear to be a lot they can offer at the big league level or toward the top of their minor league system. But if the Blue Jays are willing to plumb the depths of their system, and come up with an intriguing young pitcher or two they’re willing to part with, the Twins will have to listen and perhaps do a little due diligence.
