FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 19
High Salary SP
Drew Pomeranz-Boston Red Sox (10,500): Pomeranz has a new team in a new division in the opposite league, but he’ll start his Red Sox career making his fourth start of the year against the Giants. He went 0-2 against San Francisco in his time with the Padres, but he only allowed five earned runs in 17.1 innings (2.60 ERA). Pomeranz struck out 15 in those 17.1 innings and has been good for about a strikeout per inning so far this season.
Pomeranz went 8-7 with the Padres with a very nice 2.47 ERA showing Boston enough to part with a prized prospect for him. He’ll look to start his Red Sox tenure with a successful outing tonight after the team combined to throw a shutout in last night’s 4-0 win over the Giants who can struggle offensively at times on the road. ∗∗∗∗
Hector Santiago-Los Angeles Angels (8,800): Santiago was one of be best FanDuel daily picks in his last start mowing down the White Sox and putting up 54 fantasy points in his first start after the All Star break. He’ll look to continue that momentum as he faces a tricky matchup with Texas tonight.
Santiago hasn’t allowed an earned run in three starts while going 3-0 and lowering his ERA to 4.27 on the season. There is some cause for concern since he did get knocked around by the Rangers when he faced them in three starts earlier this season going 0-2 with a 7.07 ERA allowing 11 runs in 14 innings. The lefty is risky based on his past history in this matchup, but he is still worth a look given his excellent current form. ∗∗
