A first time major winner. This seems to be the story for the major championship on the PGA Tour lately. The latest is Jimmy Walker, who at 37-years old, took the 2016 PGA Championship with a score of 14-under par.

In the final round, Jason Day made an eagle on 18 to pull to within one stroke of Walker. Knowing he only needed par to win his first major championship, Walker settled for a par-five, earning the biggest win of his career.

Walker turned professional in 2001, after playing collegiate golf at Baylor University. He has won nine times since turning pro, including six wins on the PGA Tour. His other three victories came on the Web.com Tour.

The 2014 season was his best since joining the PGA Tour, as he finished in the top-10 at both the Masters (T8), and the U.S. Open (T9). His win on Sunday was his first win on tour since March of 2015, when he beat Jordan Spieth by four strokes to win the Valero Texas Open.

This season, Walker did not play well in the previous two major championships, missing the cut in both the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. He did make the cut at the Masters, but he finished T29.

Off the course, Walker is an incredible photographer whose website is filled with amazing photos by the astrophotographer. In fact, his photos are so good, that some of them have actually been sold to NASA. Clubs to Hire tweeted out a picture back in April of the golfer’s talents.

Walker waited 11 years on the PGA Tour to win his first major championship, and hopefully for him, it will not be his last.
