Paul Casey (9,900): Another player who I love at his price is Paul Casey.  Casey lost last year in a playoff to Bubba after shooting 64-65 on the weekend.  He had never played TPC River Highlands competitively before last season, and he definitely seemed to have it figured out after the first two rounds.  Not only does he have that history to look back on, Casey comes in with some nice momentum after a t10 last week where he finished 68-67 to surge up the leaderboard with a strong weekend.  Prior to that result, he had been struggling but seems to be putting things back together at just the right time for the Travelers.

Jon Rahm (9,800): Rahm didn’t qualify for the PGA Championship, so he got last week off. However, his runner-up finish at the RBC Canadian Open the week before earned him special temporary membership on Tour just a few weeks after turning pro.  The Spaniard who made his name as a college standout at Arizona State has shown he’s ready to contend with the big names finishing t3 at the Quicken Loans Nationals and t2 at the RBC Canadian Open in his two starts as a Pro sandwiched around a disappointing t59 at The Open when he got stuck on the wrong side of the draw. This week, Rahm could follow in the footsteps of Bubba Watson, Marc Leishman, and Hunter Mahan who all claimed their first career wins at TPC River Highlands.

Jim Furyk (9,400): Furyk struggled to a t73 last week at the PGA Championship which included a rough 74 on Sunday.  He did play three weeks in a row at The Open (t59), the Canadian Open (13), and the PGA, so fatigue could definitely be a factor after the long layoff at the start of the season due to his wrist injury.  Furyk is hard to count out since he’s usually so consistent, but he has only played this event twice since 2000 finishing t61 in 2001 and missing the cut in 2011. If he’s at his best, he brings great value at this price, but I think he’s high-risk this week.

Louis Oosthuizen (9,300): Oosty has quietly put together top-25 finishes at three of his last four events including the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship.   He crashed out of The Open at Royal Troon with a wind-blown second-round 83.  He looked ready to bounce back from that, though, with a t22 last week. The South African missed the cut at last year’s Travelers and withdrew two years ago.  He did play the weekend back in 2012 when he finished a rather unremarkable t47.

Gary Woodland (9,100): Woodland missed the cut last week at Baltusrol, but he finished t12 at The Open earlier in July.  He entered that start coming off a t21 at the Quicken Loans, and he had top-30 finishes in six of his eight events before shooting 73-72 to miss the cut at the PGA. Woodland posted a solid t20 at this event last year firing all four rounds under par to finish -8. He tends to be a little boom-or-bust, but he has been around the top-25 enough lately to think he could be poised for a nice week at TPC River Highlands.
