Following the injury that he suffered at SummerSlam on Sunday, Finn Balor will no longer be the WWE Universal Champion

Finn Balor experienced maybe the greatest moment of his career on Sunday night at SummerSlam, as he defeated Seth Rollins to become the first-ever WWE Universal Champion. However, the joy that he and all of his fans felt following the monumental win will be short lived.

It was learned on Monday that Balor, during the bout, suffered a pretty severe shoulder injury and he might even require surgery. Of course, with this news, many expected that Balor would have to give up the title that he just won on one of the biggest shows of the year.

Well, that will actually be the case, as RAW General Manager Mick Foley announced on Twitter that Balor will indeed be relinquishing the Universal title on RAW Monday night.

Given the severity of the injury to Balor, again, this was something that we all saw coming. He may be out of action for several weeks, especially if he needs surgery, so there is no way that he could have carried the title any longer.

Now, the question turns to who will be the next Universal champion? Also, how will the new champ be decided upon? Will there be a tournament? Will Seth Rollins just be handed the belt by Stephanie McMahon? If anything, RAW will be mighty interesting on Monday night, as if it wasn’t going to be already since it’s right after SummerSlam and it’s in Brooklyn.

But back to Balor, now all we can hope for is that the veteran has a speedy and healthy recovery. He was riding quite the wave of momentum and we want to see him back in there as soon as possible.
