San Diego Chargers. 3. player. 13. . AFC. West

A major military city like San Diego may absolutely be disgusted with signing a player like Kaepernick for his recent protests. Still, he might actually be something the San Diego Chargers offense could use going forward.

The Chargers might be in for another dreadful NFL season, despite having a future Hall of Famer at quarterback in Philip Rivers. They just don’t have the personnel or the front office stability to make a charge in the deep AFC West.

San Diego will once again have Ken Whisenhunt as its offensive coordinator. Though he has failed as a head coach twice with the Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans, Whisenhunt had great success calling plays for 2013 Chargers that made the AFC playoffs. Rivers thrived under him and Kaepernick could do the same.

Though San Diego has another strong armed quarterback in Zach Mettenberger backing up Rivers, neither are particularly mobile. Kaepernick could use his legs to extend plays for Whisenhunt and Chargers head coach Mike McCoy. If he’s cool with being booed every single game by the Charger faithful, then this could be a team in the mix for Kapernick’s services.
