2. San Francisco 49ers

2. player. 42. How serious are the San Francisco 49ers about Blaine Gabbert as their long-term starting quarterback? At this point it’s difficult to accept he’s anything more than auditioning in 2016 for head coach Chip Kelly, who has a long reputation for shuffling the position. Colin Kaepernick also looks like a lost cause at this point. Whatever edge he used to have is gone. No doubt Kelly will jump at the chance to start fresh with a handpicked quarterback of his own in 2017. One that fits the mold he’s had so much success with in the past.
DeShone Kizer looks like his guy. Though still very young, the Notre Dame quarterback is taking college football by storm. Not only did he light up Texas for five touchdown passes, showcasing a strong, accurate arm. He also ran for a number of long gains and scored a rushing touchdown as well. That dual threat capability is nothing new to the NFL, but what sets Kizer apart is he’s under a head coach in Brian Kelly who molds his players in pro-leaning schemes. No doubt the young man would not be in awe of anything the 49ers threw at him.
. QB. Notre Dame. DeShone Kizer
