1. Leonard Fournette – RB – LSU Tigers

If the NCAA Football video game franchise was still alive, then Leonard Fournette would most likely be the featured athlete. He is one of those “once in a generation” type players that brings a frightening combination of size, speed and power. If he were draft eligible last year, then he would have challenged Ezekiel Elliott for the first RB to be selected.

After an up and down freshman year where he rushed for 1,034 yards and 10 TDs, Fournette went berserk in 2015. He was the clear Heisman Trophy candidate for the first half of the year until the Alabama defense derailed his momentum. He still finished the season with 1,953 rushing yards and 22 TDs. His outstanding season led to him being voted as a consensus All-American and a first team All-SEC selection. He also finished sixth in the final voting for the Heisman.

Despite his 2016 seaon starting with a loss, Fournette still ran for 138 yards against a tough Wisconsin run defense. Better results will come for him in the next few weeks and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, he should be a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Fournette has been dubbed by some as the “Next Adrian Peterson.” The way things are going, the comparisons might start running dry. There is no doubt Fournette will be a top selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. Peterson was the last currently playing RB to appear on the Madden NFL cover, and we fully expect Fournette to have next.
