Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers have an elite shortstop in Corey Seager, so why not give him an elite double-play partner?

Chase Utley isn’t going to be around much longer, and Howie Kendrick cannot hold a candle to Dozier both on offense and defense. The Dodgers have Kendrick under contract for one more season, but can afford to bring on Dozier because he is so underpaid. Kendrick could even be flipped back to the Twins to free up a spot on the 25-man roster. The Dodgers are not shy about eating money.

Julio Urias would be an untouchable name if the Twins and Dodgers get serious about a trade for Dozier. Behind him, however, the Dodgers have dozens of top prospects who could draw interest, including Jose De Leon, Walker Buehler, or Jordan Sheffield. The Twins might even be willing to accept a position player given the depth of talent the Dodgers have to offer.

Under the current front office, the Dodgers have been hesitant to pull the trigger on huge trades. They could have easily landed Cole Hamels last summer, but elected for Alex Wood and Mat Latos. Even this summer’s trade for Rich Hill and Josh Reddick was relatively minor considering what the Dodgers could have done. Clayton Kershaw isn’t getting any younger, and the Dodgers need to decide if they want to win in the present or keep looking toward the future.
