Heisman Performance of the Week: Louisville QB Lamar Jackson

All Louisville Cardinals sophomore quarterback Lamar Jackson does is score touchdowns. While Jackson has put up impressive numbers through the air by completing 61% of his passes for 913 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions, his ground game sets him apart as the early Heisman Trophy front-runner.

It is Jackson’s dynamic dual-threat ability that makes him maybe the most exciting player in college football since Michael Vick starred for the Virginia Tech Hokies. On 49 carries this season, Jackson has 464 rushing yards for 10 touchdowns and a 9.5 yards per carry average.

Jackson’s most recent Heisman performance had him complete 13 of 20 passes for 216 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. His accuracy is improving and his yards per pass attempt of 10.80 against the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles was eye-popping.

Of course, Action Jackson did most of his damage on the Seminoles on the ground. He ran the ball 17 times for 146 yards and four touchdowns on the then No. 2 team in the nation. His yards per carry of 8.6 was his lowest of the season. Jackson asserted himself as the best player on possibly the best team in the ACC with a Heisman-worthy performance over Florida State in Week 3.
