Losing their opening game of the 2016 season to the unranked Wisconsin Badgers was a huge blow to the confidence of Les Miles and his ability to lead a supremely talented LSU team to the College Football Playoff. He faces another tough test in Week 4 when his team travels to Auburn to take on the fellow SEC Tigers.

Auburn is currently 0-for-2 in home games against ranked teams this year and if the Tigers lose yet again at Jordan-Hare Stadium under head coach Gus Malzahn, he might be run out of town quicker than you can say ‘kick-six.’

The Tigers made it to the title game a few years back under the head coach but the success has been few and far between ever since. It’s not that the Tigers don’t have the talent to pull off an upset win over LSU, because they do, it’s the fact that hope seems to be lost.

Luckily for Auburn, the same can be said for the LSU side of things. Miles has nearly been run out of the head coaching job once — in 2015 — but he retained his job and was put on a short leash. A loss to Wisconsin to open the season as shortened that leash even more and a defeat against Auburn in Week 4 might force the athletic director to cut it loose.

That kind of pressure is never good for a head coach when he’s just trying to focus on ‘the next game’ but it’s the situation he’s been dealt.

Purdue-transfer Danny Etling and Leonard Fournette will do their best to turn this offense around.
