Detroit Pistons Fantasy Basketball Preview
Reggie Jackson-Point Guard
Jackson just finished his second full year with the Pistons and averaged a career-high 18.8 points per game. He also reached career-highs in assists (6.2 per game) and 3PM (1.5 per game). He’s entering his sixth year in the league, and should be able to approach or surpass those numbers again this year. Jackson did also average more minutes per game than he ever had in his career since the Pistons’ backups didn’t keep the offense going when he was out.
Jackson has a new backup this year in Ish Smith (more on him later), so his minutes could be reduced slightly from time to time. Even last year, there were odd games where Stan Van Gundy seemed to rest his stars more than expected. As a result, Jackson’s numbers were a bit inconsistent from night to night, but he broth solid energy and good production when he was on the floor.
Jackson and Andre Drummond continue to work the pick-and-roll as the centerpiece of the Pistons attack, and the two should continue to be nightly options in DFS play. Jackson probably won’t average 20 points per contest like many guards will, but he creates well off the dribble.
For season-long fantasy leagues, I’d have Jackson ranked between 10-15 at the point guard spot depending on who all is eligible at the position. He isn’t quite in the elite class, but you should be in good shape if he’s the second PG on your roster in ten-team leagues.
