“No wonder you’ve been fighting ISIS your entire life”

One of Trump’s most famous lines during his campaign was calling Barack Obama “the founder of ISIS,” while adding that the co-founder was Crooked Hillary Clinton. However, in addition to being absolutely ridiculous, that comment is factually incorrect. The real founder of ISIS was Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and when it was founded, Obama wasn’t even in office.

So when the debate came around, he brought out the four-letter acronym once again. One of his main points was that Hillary was in office for over 30 years and hasn’t come up with any solutions. He used that as a launching point to tell her she’s been fighting ISIS her entire adult life.

Once again, ISIS was formed in 2003, when Barack Obama allegedly founded it. Clinton was born in 1947, so once again there’s no way this is possible.

The way Trump kept speaking out of turn and lashing out was reminiscent of a child. You have to give credit to Hillary for powering through despite his best efforts, and she was able to laugh this one off too.

Lester Holt, meanwhile, did a horrible job of moderating, and seemed content at letting the shouting match devolve. Trump using ISIS was obviously a way to stir the pot, and when he wasn’t sticking to the issues, he should’ve stepped in right away. But at least we got another great soundbite out of Trump.
