Given the career that he has had thus far as the leader of the Buckeyes’ offense, you’d think Barrett would be getting a little more Heisman love than he has been. However, the emergence of other players has cut down on that — but don’t count out the man who finished fifth in the 2014 Heisman voting just yet.

Through three games this season, Barrett has thrown for 10 touchdowns and just one interception, with his signature performance of the young season coming two weeks ago against one of the favorites in the Big 12.

Barrett and Ohio State traveled down to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners, and while he only threw for 152 yards through the air, the Ohio State quarterback put the ball in the end zone four times with his arm while not turning it over once in the 45-24 beatdown. He’d also add in 74 yards on the ground as well. That showing in Big 12 country reminded the entire nation that Barrett intends on going nowhere when it comes to the Heisman race.

Now, all he has to do is start blowing up those stats a little more, and that will begin this Saturday when the Buckeyes take on Rutgers in Big Ten action. A strong start to October from Barrett with some eye-popping statistics will go a long way in making sure he has a shot at the bronze statue come December.
