The Houston Cougars are doing what many expected them to do this season, and that’s roll through the competition. The Cougs are 4-0 to get the campaign started here in 2016, and as was the case last year, a lot of that has to do with the play of quarterback Greg Ward Jr.

Ward hasn’t really blown anyone out of the water with his stats this season thus far, but he’s making the plays that he needs to and, most importantly, he’s keeping Houston in the College Football Playoff discussion. As long as he can keep that train rolling for his team, then he will be in the Heisman talk in some form or another.

But he ultimately does have to start putting on some shows for the voters, and there’s no better way to start that off than on Thursday evening against UConn. Once again the senior signal-caller will have a national stage to himself on ESPN to show everyone what he’s capable of when the ball is in his hands. Against that Connecticut defense, Ward should seize the opportunity and light them up, putting him right near the forefront of the conversation once again as Houston continues to try and stun the college football world.
