4. Tom Herman knows Texas
In a state that is all about football, Tom Herman has done an exceptional job with Houston. Despite not being a team that plays in a power-five conference, the Cougars have become playoff contenders under Herman. He knows how to recruit in the state and get real talent to the program.
If he’s going to leave for a school, Texas is a great option. He already knows how to recruit in state and might even be able to get better talent than the great players he’s pulling in at Houston. A lot of times it’s hard for these coaches to leave a program like this because they might not have it as good as where they are currently at.
At Texas, Herman would have as it as good as he currently does. He would get a high salary and all the tools to building a powerhouse team. The boosters at Texas have high expectations and Herman has proved he can have multiple great seasons at a smaller program.
If he can get Houston into the playoff this year or at least go undefeated, recruits and everyone will take notice. He can coach and he can excel in the state. It seems like a perfect fit for both sides involved.
