51. No team has surprised the NFL more than the reincarnated Los Angeles Rams. In their first season back on the west coast, expectations were low for Jeff Fisher and his team. First overall pick Jared Goff was still learning how to operate a pro-style offense, the defense lost some big pieces in the offseason, and there were major questions at wide receiver. Fast-forward to Sunday, and the Rams are 3-2 and in contention to compete within the division. Jared Goff has yet to step onto the field, holes remain at defense, and wide receivers still carry questions. An unforeseen drop in production by Todd Gurley has made the early success an even bigger surprise. Buffalo was still able to hand Los Angeles a loss at home thanks to three touchdowns and two Case Keenum interceptions.
Next Week: Los Angeles will look to rebound in Detroit, where the Lions scratched out a close win at home. Detroit has a large number of starters on defense injured, and are without two of their top running backs. While fans would love to see Goff after Keenum’s dismal performance, Fisher is thinking about the future and making sure Goff is ready.

Playoff hopes: The defense of Los Angeles has kept them in the race thus far, but they reside in a competitive division with Arizona and Seattle. They have already surprised us this year, but don’t expect too much more magic coming out of Los Angeles with some tough opponents scheduled for the end of the season.
. 3-2. Previous: .
