4. Weak remaining schedule

If you ask anyone that resides in the state of Alabama or in SEC country, they’ll tell you how great their conference is. Not to slight the SEC, but this year, the conference is top-heavy with several run-of-the-mill teams.

Outside of their Saturday showdown against Texas A&M, Alabama may not get tested until the start of the College Football Playoffs. As seen this season, rankings can never tell the story with SEC teams.

To further prove that notion, last week, the Crimson Tide trounced the ninth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers 49-10 on the road. It was expected for Bama to struggle on the road in Knoxville, the outcome of the game was the complete opposite.

Last week was a clear sign, stating you never know what you’re going to get when it comes to teams in the SEC that aren’t named Alabama. The Aggies seem to be legit, but LSU, Mississippi State, and Auburn seem to be abstruse until further notice.

During a time when other Heisman hopefuls will be facing conference foes, Alabama plays Chattanooga. The Mocs may be 6-1, but they haven’t competed against a team like Alabama. With the Crimson Tide having a liking to beat up on lesser opponents, it’s likely that Hurts can have a huge game to state increase his chances to win the award.
