2017 NFL Mock Draft: QBs dominate top 15
By Brad Weiss
Mitch Trubisky is as good a quarterback as there is in college football, and had it not been for a rough outing against Virginia Tech on October 8, he would be talked about as a Heisman Trophy candidate. In fact, the two interceptions he threw against the Hokies are the only ones he has thrown all season, as he has also tossed 18 touchdowns.
He has led the North Carolina Tarheels to a 6-2 record this season, as he has his team ranked No. 21 in the latest AP Poll. He has thrown for over 400 yards three times this season, including a 405-yard effort on the road against Florida State. That game catapulted him into the national spotlight, and he continues to get better each week.
What sets Trubisky apart from nearly every quarterback in college football is the touch he shows on his balls. Whether it is a fade route, or a deep throw to the back shoulder, Trubisky has some impressive skills throwing the ball in tight spots. The Chicago Bears are done with Jay Cutler as their quarterback, and Brian Hoyer broke is arm in the team’s latest loss. Trubisky would be an instant upgrade at the position.
