High Salary PG

Russell Westbrook-Oklahoma City Thunder (11,500): With Kevin Durant’s departure for Golden State this offseason, the Thunder will have a radically different look to start the year. The team definitely belongs to Russell Westbrook now and he’ll get ALL the offensive chances to start the year. He’s the favorite to win the scoring title since he will carry all the offense for his team and will be a nightly triple-double threat.

Since the Warriors have to share the production with the rest of their team, Westbrook is the top fantasy player in the NBA and will get a great chance to show it tonight against the 76ers. He has taken it easy for most of the Preseason, but he has produced when given the playing time to do so. Last year in his two games against the 76ers he averaged 20.5 points, 16 rebounds, and 10.5 assists, along with two steals, and a block. Although he’s expensive, he’s the star I’m most confident in tonight since he should be set up to open his MVP campaign with a bang in Phily.

Kyle Lowry-Toronto Raptors (7,800): While his postseason struggles got most of the attention, Lowry had a very good season last year. He averaged a career-high 21.2 points per game while also chipping in 6.4 assists, 2.1 steals, and 4.7 rebounds for a total of over 40 fantasy points per night. Lowry can be a double-double threat when he’s at his best, and he usually rises to the occasion with big Regular Season games. Tonight in Toronto’s home opener, he’ll get to go against Ish Smith of the Pistons who will get the start in place of the injured Reggie Jackson. Lowry should be able to produce a big night against Smith since Ish is more of an offensive option than a defensive stopper.

Jeremy Lin-Brooklyn Nets (6,000): Are you ready for Linsanity part II? The Nets brought in Lin this offseason to run their offense, and he’ll get to be one of the better offensive options on a nightly basis for new coach Kenny Atkinson’s Nets. Atkinson joins the Nets after working on the Hawks’ staff so look for a ball movement offense similar to Atlanta’s. Lin seems to fit the scheme perfectly and averaged 17.2 points, 5.6 assists, 2.0 three-pointers and 1.4 steals per game this preseason. The Nets open up tonight against the Celtics who defend opposing PG well, but Marcus Smart will miss the opener which should allow Lin to start the season strong.∗∗
