High Value PG

Ty Lawson-Sacramento Kings (5,500): Don’t forget that Darren Collison who will be the Kings starting PG this season is suspended for the first eight games of the season from a domestic violence incident. The Kings waived Jordan Farmar and Isaiah Cousins on Monday leaving all the minutes Lawson can handle for him to start the season. Coach Dave Joerger said Lawson is expected to play 30-40 minutes a night while Collison is out making him a nice play against the Suns who have been one of the wort teams defensively against opposing PG.

Tim Frazier-New Orleans Pelicans (4,800): With Jrue Holiday away from the team to care for his ailing wife, Frazier will get to open the season as the starting PG for the Pelicans. The third-year un-drafted free agent out of Penn State has ben solid throughout the preseason and finished with a nice tenpin, seven-assist, seven-rebound game against the Magic last week. He looks like he’ll be a low-range triple-double threat while running things in New Orleans, and he starts the year with a nice matchup as the Nuggets roll into the Big Easy.

Ish Smith-Detroit Pistons (4,700): Smith is another PG getting a chance to start to open the year as he fills in for the injured Reggie Jackson in Detroit. Smith has shown he can get solid point production when given the chance and should be able to dish out healthy assist totals in the pick-and-roll as well. Smith is a little riskier than Frazier since he’s dealing with a new team and with Stan Van Gundy’s quick PG hook. Still, he’s too good to overlook at this price point.

Terry Rozier-Boston Celtics (3,200): The Celtics had plenty of guard depth coming into the season, but last year’s first round pick Terry Rozier has stood out and earned his way into the rotation with a strong offseason and preseason. Since Marcus Smart is out, Rozier will get plenty of minutes in Boston’s rotation early in the season even though he didn’t play much last season. Rozier scored in double-digits in every Preseason game in which he played over 20 minutes including two contests agains the Nets who Boston faces tonight. He adds solid peripheral numbers as well with assists, steals, and rebounds, so go with him if you need a cheap play at SG tonight.
