If you’re the Florida Gators, you have to be weary of this matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. Although Florida is 5-1 and ranked No. 14 in the polls, the Gators haven’t exactly looked like world-beaters through eight weeks.

In fact, Florida has lost to Tennessee after blowing a big first half lead and barely snuck past Vanderbilt a few weeks ago, winning just 13-6. This team has been very inconsistent but the Gators are still in contention for an SEC title.

Georgia has had an up-and-down season as well in the first year of Kirby Smart. He took over the program in the offseason and is having a very Mark Richt-like season, going 4-3 through seven games after starting the season ranked.

However, the Bulldogs are a Hail Mary against Tennessee away from being 5-2 and maybe if they won that game, they would have carried the momentum into last week’s Vanderbilt contest in which they lost by one. Georgia could very well be 6-1 right now, but tough endings to games have not gone its way.

Freshman quarterback Jacob Eason is coming off his best game as a starter, though, and he will be ready to prove why he was a five-star prospect against Florida.
