Heisman Performance of the Week: Louisville Cardinals QB Lamar Jackson

Every week is another opportunity for Louisville Cardinals quarterback Lamar Jackson to solidify his 2016 Heisman Trophy. He has had amazing performances this season against schools like Syracuse and Florida State.

While the Virginia Cavaliers aren’t a solid opponent, this might have been Jackson’s best performance. He 100 percent carried the Cardinals to victory over a frisky Hoos team in Charlottesville on early Saturday afternoon.

Jackson completed 24 of 41 passes for 361 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. On the ground, he would rush for an additional 88 yards on 17 carries. His game-winning touchdown pass to Jaylen Smith might end up being his signature Heisman moment this season.

Louisville had no business winning that game. Their offensive line was horrible. They were penalized almost every other play. However, Jackson made a point to not let his team lose to a weaker cross-divisional rival on Saturday. There is a month left in the college football season, but he has won the Heisman Trophy.
