1. Kris Bryant makes the final out to end the drought
It has been 108 years since the Cubs have won a World Series title. It almost seems impossible to go that long without a title. The Cubs last won in 1908 before this magical championship here in 2016.
Some say it was destined to happen this year. The Cubs had a perfect team. They have two NL MVP candidates, they have a plethora of players under the age of 24 and they have one of the best managers in baseball. All of this led them to 103 wins and an NL Central division title.

Once the playoffs hit, it wasn’t as easy as they would have liked. The Giants gave them a run for their money in the NLDS and they trailed the Dodgers 2-1 in the NLCS before winning three straight. And obviously, the Indians led them 3-1 in the fall classic.
Even in Game 7, it was not easy. They entered the bottom of the 10th with an 8-6 lead and in need of three outs to end the longest drought in major sports’ history. The Indians scored one in the bottom half to make it interesting. But the game ended on a slow roller to Kris Bryant that he fielded and threw to first base with a smile on his face.
Joe Buck had the call and uttered the words that no one has ever heard, “The Cubs win the World Series.” The drought ended in Cleveland with Mike Montgomery on the mound and Bryant fielding and throwing to first baseman Anthony Rizzo. The team celebrated on the field and a couple days later with their fans at the championship parade. Chicago had an estimated 5 million people at the victory parade.
