It has been nearly 15 years since the Oakland Raiders have made the playoffs, but that is certain to change this season. The Raiders are currently 7-2 entering their bye week, and are in sole possession of first place in the AFC West. Armed with arguably the best young quarterback in football, the Raiders have changed the culture of the franchise, and could make a serious run at a Super Bowl this season.

One area where the team continues to struggle has been in the secondary, where free agent pickup Sean Smith has not lived up to expectations. Smith, who is currently nursing an injury, was given big bucks to come to the Raiders from division rival Kansas City, but has yet to gel with his new teammates. Fellow cornerback David Amerson has also been toasted a few times, so it may be time to look for a younger option at the position.

Tre’Davious White from LSU is an incredible specimen at the cornerback position, and is a first-round talent. Based on their record, the Raiders will be drafting late in round one, and White could be available. This class is deep in cornerback depth, so the Raiders could be getting a high-round talent late. They need help in the secondary, and even if it is as the third corner next year, White could step in and help right away.
