2. For Orgeron, this is the dream job

LSU is one of the best jobs a college football coach could ever hope to land. While some may call it a dream job, this is the dream job for Orgeron. Orgeron grew up in Larose, Louisiana and played his college ball at Northwestern State in Natchitoches.

LSU is the fifth coaching job Orgeron has had in Louisiana. He was a graduate assistant at his alma mater in 1984. Orgeron would serve as a graduate assistant at McNeese State in Lake Charles in 1985. From there, Orgeron would be a linebackers coach for the 1994 Nicholls State Colonels in Thibodaux, the defensive line coach for the NFL’s New Orleans Saints in 2008, and he’s been at LSU since 2015.

For a guy that has spent the bulk of his football life in Louisiana, there isn’t a bigger gig than being the head coach at LSU. After going 5-2 as the interim, Orgeron has earned the right to lead his state’s preeminent college football team for the foreseeable future.

LSU knows that Orgeron will give absolutely everything he has in this job. This is the apex of his collegiate coaching career. There is no way that Orgeron will not take full advantage of this opportunity in Baton Rouge. LSU has made a firm investment in one of their own. This is a win-win scenario for all involved in the LSU football program.
