Defensive Player of the Week: Washington Huskies DB Budda Baker

Budda Baker, what a name and what a player the Washington Huskies have in their defensive backfield. The Huskies often lean on their strong defense to win games in the Pac-12. They did it again in Week 13 against arch rival Washington State in the 2016 Apple Cup.

The Huskies were able to defeat the Washington State Cougars in Pullman, 45-17 thanks to the great play from their defense. Baker was the Huskies’ best defensive player. He had a team-high eight tackles, five solo, and an interception.

With that win over Washington State, Washington would go on to win the Pac-12 North. The Huskies will face the Pac-12 South Champion Colorado Buffaloes in the 2016 Pac-12 Championship this weekend at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Baker will need to play well against Sefo Liufau, Philip Lindsay, and the rest of the Buffaloes this weekend. No doubt that Washington head coach Chris Petersen can trust his star junior defensive back going forward in Baker.
