College Football Week 13: Top performers of the week

In what could be his final collegiate game, Patrick Mahomes II put on quite a display in the Texas Tech Red Raiders victory against Baylor this past weekend. Mahomes threw for 586 yards and six touchdowns inside AT&T Stadium, showing that he just may be the best quarterback next April’s draft has to offer. It was a the final piece to an incredible puzzle Mahomes put together this season, as he offered up dominating efforts nearly every week.
Mahomes’ possible final game for the Red Raiders may have been the best of his career, which is certainly saying something. This season, Mahomes leads the FBS in total offense (5,357), total touchdowns (53), and passing yards (5,052), which is a category he is leading by nearly 800 yards. The closest quarterback to Mahomes is Cal’s Davis Webb, who has racked up 4,295 yards this season.

In the first half of games alone, Mahomes has thrown for more yards than 105 FBS teams have thrown for in the entire season. The Big 12 Player of the Week collected his fourth 500-plus yard game of the season, becoming one of three players ever to record over 5,000 passing yards in two different seasons. This past weekend, Mahomes had five touchdown passes of over 35 yards, including two that went for 80. Quite an exclamation point on what has been an incredible career.
