35. San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl

BYU vs. Wyoming

Wednesday, December 21, 9:00 PM on ESPN

Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA

I’m sure San Diego County Credit Union is delightful for those in and around the San Diego area. I get. I don’t use an actual “bank” either. But this name is absolutely out of control. And if you must know, I really enjoy the word “poinsettia”, so maybe that’s why I get so angry when I’m forced to look at this name year after year. But maybe you’re not having that many conversations about the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl anyway.

34. Belk Bowl

Arkansas vs. Virginia Tech

Thursday, December 29, 5:30 PM on ESPN

Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC

Can you believe it’s been six years since we last witnessed the Meineke Car Care Bowl? Oh, you didn’t realize that the Belk Bowl was the new name for that? And if you’re not sure exactly what Belk is, it’s a department store chain that operates more than 300 stores in 16 states and I can tell you for certain that I’ve never stepped foot inside of one of those stores. Don’t worry, Belk. It’s not because I don’t like you. You’re just not around me. Oh, and they’re based out of Charlotte which is where this game is played. It makes sense. It’s just a little boring.

33. Foster Farms Bowl

Indiana vs. Utah

Wednesday, December 28, 8:30 PM on FOX

Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA

Remember the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl? Or the Emerald Bowl? Or the Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl? Seriously, that was a thing back in the early 2000s. Well, for the past couple of years, we’ve gotten the Foster Farms Bowl. If you’re not familiar, I wouldn’t worry about it as I had to use the Google machine myself to solve the mystery. They are a Northern California-based poultry company, which makes sense given the game’s location in Northern California. Again, it’s not that I don’t like you. I just don’t know you. I’m sure it’s delicious.

32. AutoNation Cure Bowl

UCF vs. Arkansas State

Saturday, December 17, 5:30 PM on CBS Sports Network

Camping World Stadium, Orlando, FL

I really like the idea of the Cure Bowl, which was named what it is to promote awareness and research of breast cancer, with the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. And maybe I’m trying too hard to link each sponsor to each specific bowl game but I just don’t understand the link here. But I’m certainly not going to make fun of any sponsor that puts up money to help out. So that’s all I’ve got on this one.

31. Gildan New Mexico Bowl

New Mexico vs. UTSA

Saturday, December 17, 2:00 PM on ESPN

University Stadium, Albuquerque, NM

This game was known simply as the New Mexico Bowl from its inception in 2006 until activewear clothing company Gildan took over sponsorship five years ago. And during my last trip to New Mexico a couple of years ago, I did notice most of the people in Albuquerque were wearing clothes so I approve this sponsor.
