College Football Bowls 2016: 10 potential breakout players
Baylor might be the most ice-cold team heading into bowl season and there’s no solidified reason for the struggles. The Bears started the season 6-0 and were all the way up to No. 6 in the AP Poll before dropping six consecutive games and falling out.
Luckily for this team, they became bowl eligible so early on that even a six-game losing streak couldn’t eliminate them from postseason play. Unfortunately, the Bears lost starting quarterback Seth Russell in the process.
Even without the elite passer, the Bears have one of the best receiving threats in the country in KD Cannon. He has been flying under the radar this season, for some reason, and he’s ready to have a big game in the Cactus Bowl against Boise State.
Surprisingly, Cannon and Russell didn’t seem to be on the same page this season. They had two good games together, but only broke 100 yards once.
New quarterback Zach Smith seems to be relying on Cannon much more. In fact, in the four games in which Smith has played extensively, Cannon has 33 receptions for 420 yards and five touchdowns. That trend could continue against the Broncos.
