One of the best running backs in the SEC this season was Texas A&M freshman Trayveon Williams who broke the 1,000-yard mark in his first season with the Aggies. He also added eight touchdowns and, at one point in time, was one of my top-five Heisman contenders early in the season.

After six incredible games to start the season, including three 100-plus yard performances and even a 200-yard game, Williams cooled off considerably. In fact, he had more than 11 carries just one time in the final six games and the Aggies were just 2-4 during that time.

Getting Williams the ball early and often should be the game plan for the Aggies, but it’s up to the coaching staff to how much he’s actually going to contribute. He could wind up being the best running back in the SEC before his career is over, but it seems like the coaching staff is limiting his carries.

Williams finished the season with 1,024 yards and eight touchdowns on 7.0 per carry but the Aggies face a tough matchup with the 12th-ranked Kansas State rushing defense. If he gets the ball 15 or more times against the Wildcats, Williams will have a breakout game and everyone will get to know his name.
