Some thought it was the best game of the season and that’s an accurate assessment of the Kentucky vs. North Carolina matchup on Saturday night. The two teams duked it out all game long, but the Wildcats were able to hold on thanks to a late Malik Monk three-pointer to seal it. He finished the game with 47 points. The Wildcats are getting better each week and that offense is just scary.

Baylor has one of those resumes that could get them a guaranteed spot in the NCAA Tournament right now, but the Bears will settle for an 11-0 record to start the season. They were receiving some first-place votes last week and I’d expect the same this week after three victories. Will the Bears dethrone Kansas in the Big 12 this season?

Kansas had a slight scare in Week 6, trailing at halftime to Davidson, but the Jayhawks came out swinging in the final 20 minutes, winning by 18. Still, that’s something that can make a team realize that it’s not unbeatable and the Jayhawks got things working in the right direction. Josh Jackson continues to play well even as a true freshman and Frank Mason III is continuing his breakout season.

Can anyone beat UCLA this season? The Bruins are just trucking along and nowhere seems to be able to slow them down, beating UC Santa Barbara by 40 points and then Ohio State by 13 to end the week. Lonzo Ball has been playing like a Naismith candidate this season and he might just be the best true freshman in the country.

Yet another week without a loss for Villanova as they haven’t lost a game since last March. The defending national champs continue to take care of business, beating Temple by 21 points in Week 6 and looking like the favorite to repeat. There’s no question that the Wildcats will be No. 1 when the rankings come out on Monday.
