Southampton face West Brom at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 31. Here’s all the info you need to watch these two teams in action.

Southampton will be ready for the next match day to be here. After a quick start against Tottenham seeing the Saints go up 1-0, everything fell apart. Eventually going down a man and losing 4-1, Southampton will be regretting a chance at a statement result gone. The result kept the side in 8th place in a table that is increasingly becoming a top 6 breakaway. That was only their second loss at home this year, the first being to Chelsea.

Coming to town is the team directly behind them in the table (9th), West Brom. Only one point behind Southampton, they also entered the match disappointed at letting a point fall away. After holding on against Arsenal for the majority of the match, a late header by Oliver Giroud secured a win for the Gunners. Road form has not been the Baggies specialty so far this year, with only two wins.

Southampton have the more talented squad and have benefited from being at home for most of the year. West Brom will likely play the defensive role again, as they did with almost perfect effect against Arsenal. The loser of this match could easily drop into the bottom half of the table after the weekend. While a win and Everton loss could see either climb into 7th place, and dreams of Europe still alive.
