Former United States’ Men’s National Team manager Bob Bradley fired by Swansea City

Welsh Premier League club Swansea City have parted ways with American manager Bob Bradley. Bradley was hired by the club October 3rd, replacing former manager Francesco Guildolin.

Bradley was the first American to be appointed manager of an English Premier league club. Swansea’s decision to hire Bradley was heavily criticized by club supporters and the media.

Over the past two weeks, Bradley had been rumored to be on the hot seat, but many thought that Swansea would give the American manager the winter transfer window before making a decision on his future.

Bradley’s managerial tenure lasted all of 85 days. In 11 games, Bradley could only manage eight points out of a possible 33. Swansea won just two games under Bradley. In 11 games, Swansea conceded 29 goals. The decision to fire Bradley comes one day following the Swans 4-1 Boxing Day defeat to West Ham.

Swansea sits 19th in the Premier League with 12 points. Only Hull City sits behind Swansea in the Premier League table. Both clubs currently sit four points back of the regulation safe zone. Swansea has spent the past six seasons in the Premier League.

Swansea coaches Alan Curtis and Paul Williams are expected to be in charge for the club’s game Saturday against Bournemouth.

Former Manchester United player and assistant manager Ryan Giggs is expected to be a front-runner to replace Bradley. Hiring the former Wales international would certainly gain back parts of the fan base who disagreed with the hiring of Bradley three months ago.

Bradley previously served as the manager of the United States national team from 2007 until 2011 when he was replaced by Jurgen Klinsmann. Following that, Bradley was appointed the manager of the Egyptian national team until 2013. In 2014, he took over Norwegian club Stabaek FC. In 2015, Bradley took over French club Le Havre.
