Washington State Cougars

Last week: 9-6 (2-1 Pac-12)
Last rank: N/A

It’s early, I know, but seriously — how did Washington State get here?! Sitting at 9-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference, you may wonder just how they got here. Well, through three games they lead the conference in FG percentage and FT percentage. While doing that in just three games the number can be skewed a bit but it’s simple: you put the ball in the basket and you will win games.

This coming week the Cougars face a tough test with both Stanford and California this week. While those two teams aren’t great on paper, they offer a nice test for Washington State. How far have the Cougars come? Are they for real? We’ll find out by the end of the weekend.

USC Trojans

Last week: 15-2 (2-2 Pac-12)
Last rank: N/A

USC has come down to earth after the undefeated start and now we’ll see just how good this team is as they take a tough trip to the Mountains this weekend. Going to Utah and Colorado is never easy, especially when you’re trying to keep pace with the likes of UCLA, Oregon and Arizona. Both provide tough atmospheres and will test one of the leagues best defenses.

If USC can get past that then it leads to a showdown against Arizona next week and that will surely have implications when it comes to what happens in the Pac-12.
