Utah Utes

Last week: 11-4 (2-1 Pac-12)
Last rank: N/A

It’s early in the Pac-12 race and three of teams have thrown their hat into the race. By the end of this coming weekend, we could possibly have a fourth. Utah was supposed to take a step back this season, but so far in Pac-12 play the Utes have hung around. This week they host UCLA in a very fascinating matchup that have an impact on not only these rankings but the Pac-12 race as well.

UCLA Bruins

Last week: 16-1 (3-1 Pac-12)
Last rank: N/A

If Utah can stop Lonzo Ball and make the others win the ballgame, it’s very possible that Utah can pull off the upset. Having the conference’s fourth ranked defense helps too.

UCLA has bounced back from the loss to Oregon and has looked pretty good since then, winning three games in a row. We’ll see how they look this week against Colorado and Utah. Both of these are games in which the Bruins should be favored. The Bruins are one of the best scoring teams in the conference but at the same time they’re struggling on defense. And while Utah and Colorado aren’t world beaters on offense, getting in a shootout is a tricky game to play. Especially on the road in the Pac-12.

In two weeks, the Bruins will host Arizona in the first of a possible three games between the two schools this season. Hopefully both teams can stay out of the loss column until then.
