2017 Senior Bowl: 5 Players who improved stock
By John Buhler
We already kind of knew this, but Saturday just reaffirms the obvious. Toledo Rockets running back Kareem Hunt is the best senior at his position group in college football. He tore it up for Fox’s North team on Saturday. Hunt had 15 carries for 118 yards and one catch for 11 yards.
He had the bulky collegiate body type of a Le’Veon Bell, but played at a substantially smaller weight this weekend. Though he’s not the pass catcher, he runs very similarly to what Tevin Coleman did for the Indiana Hoosiers and now for the Atlanta Falcons.
Hunt is explosive with the football in his hands and will be a very productive player at the next level. CBS has him as the No. 9 running back in the 2017 NFL Draft class with a third to fourth-round grade. That now feels like a certainty that Hunt will go in the third round.
The best thing that happened for Hunt this week was that he played with dominance against great competition for all scouts to see. Hunt even had a few moments in pass protection in practice that could help him see the field in his rookie NFL season. Look for him to be a fantasy team darling by his second NFL season in 2018.
