Boston Globe says Patriots lost Super Bowl

The Boston Globe accidentally sent out newspapers saying the Patriots lost Super Bowl 51. 

The newspaper industry can be a very cruel one. Deadlines are to be met and editors are often working on a less than ideal number of hours of sleep. Ergo, errors are to be expected from time to time. However, the Boston Globe made a terrible mistake. Perhaps a bit too antsy to get the headlines out for the morning, they sent out some newspaper declaring the New England Patriots lost Super Bowl 51.

To be fair, early edition newspapers have to meet a very strict deadline. It’s easy to see how in the chaos of the fourth quarter, copies of a prepared Patriots loss front page got out. You have to feel for the Boston Globe. Luckily, not too many copies got out.

Also, it’s easy to see why they prepared such a copy. Who would have thought the Patriots would come back from a 28-3 deficit? The way the game was going entering the fourth quarter, even the most optimistic of Pats fans had to be feeling bad about their chances. If you managed to get a copy of the wrong front page, be sure to hang on to it. It’s sort of funny and, who knows, collectors might pay a lot for it.

Tom Brady led the most epic comeback in Super Bowl history. In overtime, the Patriots wasted  no time, marching down the field to score on their opening drive. The drive ended arguably the most chaotic and improbable Super Bowl victory of all-time. Brady won his fourth MVP and fifth Super Bowl, both are records for quarterbacks. With another win, the Patriots quarterback would set the all-time record for Super Bowl wins by a single player with six.
