NES Classic Mini is not ceasing production
Despite some rumors of Nintendo ceasing production on the NES Classic Mini, the company will continue to ship units.
Don’t go crazy, now. It’s bad enough that you can’t find the NES Classic Mini anywhere. Now, with a recent rumor of Nintendo ceasing production on it, people are losing their minds. But, Tech Radar has confirmed that units are still going to be shipped out. NeoGAF first reported the news.
A Nintendo UK representative said the following below:
"Production for the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES continues, and NOE (Nintendo of Europe) will continue to ship units to retail on a regular basis."
This is great to hear. But, if we’re being honest, it doesn’t mean much. This is the part where we begin to roast Nintendo. It makes absolutely no sense that they continue to do this to their fans.
When the NES Mini released back in November, we all went straight to GameStop and other retailers to try and pick one up. The sad thing is that there were 20-30 people in line and there were only eight in stock (at least to the store we went to).
The NES is a classic console. It makes absolutely no sense that Nintendo would ship out such a low number of consoles. Of course people want this, so why wouldn’t you ship out an appropriate number so that consumers can get their hands on it?
Long story short, it was severely understocked everywhere and you were extremely lucky if you were able to get your hands on one. The sad part is all the scalpers who bought one and were selling it for triple its worth on online retailers like Amazon or eBay.

Let’s hope that Nintendo keeps their promise and continues to ship these in 2017. They dropped the ball on this one, but at least we have the Nintendo Switch launching soon, which looks awesome.
