New England Patriots

AFC, East

The New England Patriots had a pretty interesting 2016 NFL season, as they had to play the first four games of the season without their star quarterback. Tom Brady had to sit out the first four games due to a suspension for his role in Deflategate, but that only fueled his fire for another Super Bowl title. The Pats jumped out to a 3-1 record without Brady, and once he returned, he piloted the team to a 14-2 overall record.

When all was said and done, the Pats had won their fifth Super Bowl with Brady at the helm, and will now head into the offseason with some decisions to make about their roster. Starting running back LeGarrette Blount will be a free agent, and the team may let him walk. Running back has always been a position that has seemed interchangeable for the team, so seeing them bring in a new face would not surprise anybody.

Latavius Murray would fit well into the Patriots offensive scheme, as he does his best work when he is used in conjunction with other players. James White and Dion Lewis may be back for the Patriots, though Murray would assume the role left behind by Blount if he does come east to play for the Pats. Murray is a strong back, who has the mentality of putting the team first, which is perfect for anybody putting on a Patriots uniform.

The Patriots will obviously be back in the thick of things next season, as Brady has shown no signs of slowing down. The team actually won the Super Bowl without one of their biggest offensive weapons this past season, as tight end Rob Gronkowski was injured during the season. Murray would be a nice addition to the puzzle in New England, and would give head coach Bill Belichick another versatile back to get the ball to.
