2017 NFL Mock Draft: Clemson stars dominate
By Brad Weiss
Just a few weeks ago, the Arizona Cardinals had no idea who would be lining up under center when they kick off their 2017 regular season slate next September. One thing was for certain, it definitely did not look like Carson Palmer was their man anymore, after moving out of the state, and pulling his kids out of school. However, that has all receded, and Palmer is totally on board with whatever they try to do to bolster the roster heading into next season.
While Palmer likely has one good season left in him, the front office has to be thinking about the future. The Cardinals need their next quarterback, and Patrick Mahomes II has the tools to be a good one at the next level. During his time at Texas Tech, Mahomes put together some video game-type statistics, which has led many to believe that his game is not going to transfer over to the NFL level.
That could not be further from the truth, and Mahomes may end up being the best of the bunch in this draft. While he does need help with his footwork, that can always be fixed, and you cannot teach the kind of physical skills this kid has to play the position. Mahomes continues to climb up draft boards everywhere, and he will certainly be a name to track once the draft kicks off in April. The Cards need their future at the position, and Mahomes may be just what the doctor ordered.
