Brooklyn Nets

Sending out: Brook Lopez (ORL), Luis Scola (PHX)

Bringing in: Rajon Rondo (CHI), Jeff Green (ORL), 2019 first round pick (PHI), 2018 second round pick (PHI)


Brook Lopez is having a career year but he isn’t doing the Brooklyn Nets much good. They’re bad and in need of upgrades up and down the roster, without the requisite draft picks to get it down. This is a fairly steep price for the Nets to pay — the eat the salaries of Green and Rondo to earn the right to a first and a second round pick. However, Rondo could probably be bought out and Green is a free agent at the end of this year. In addition, those picks come from Philly and have probably been imbued with the magical aura of The Process.

Waiting until 2018 and 2019 to get a return on those picks is not ideal but the Nets simply don’t have a lot of options. The market for Lopez is slim and something is better than nothing when it comes to the draft picks. I mean, it’s not like Joel Embiid and the 76ers are winning a title in the next two years, or are they…
