According to Marc Stein and Chris Haynes, a Paul George to Denver Nuggets trade is unlikely because of the lack of long term commitment.

The time is almost up for NBA teams to make trades before the deadline. One name that has stolen all of the headlines in the NBA Trade Deadline is Paul George. The Indiana Pacers have been trying to build a contender around their superstar.

With rumors of him wanting to play for a winner if things don’t change, that could propel the Indiana Pacers to move. While everyone knows the Boston Celtics are the team with all the assets looking to make a push for any superstar that becomes available, the Denver Nuggets made a surprise push for the superstar, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein and Chris Haynes.

However, the talks apparently went nowhere as the Nuggets found out that George would probably not re-sign a new deal with them. While the Nuggets have assets to make big deals, they face the same plight as many small market teams trying to get big superstars.

Haynes added in the tidbit that George sees the Western Conference as being too tough to reach the NBA Finals. With the Golden State Warriors not appearing to be anywhere close to slowing down anytime soon and the San Antonio Spurs having endless talent, the conference is an absolute powerhouse.

That’s not to say the Eastern Conference has been any different. LeBron james has been a force that has won the conference for six straight seasons and he appears to be headed for a seventh straight one unless another team steps up. However, there are far less contenders in the Eastern Conference than the West.
